Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival

Founded in 1933 by modern dance pioneer Ted Shawn on a former Shaker settlement in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Jacob's Pillow is the longest-running international dance festival in the United States and a National Historic Landmark. The Pillow Lab residency program hosts choreographers and dance artists for one- to four-week residencies year-round, with rehearsal studios, housing, technical support, and access to the dance archives (one of the most extensive dance collections in the world). The summer brings the festival itself — performances, classes, and a high-density artist community.
